GENERAL INFORMATION

• PUBLIC PURPOSE OF THE DISTRICT: The continued development, administration, and maintenance of the unincorporated area known as Lake Strawberry, as set forth according to the Public Records of Hillsborough County, providing for the administration of affairs of said District by a Board of Trustees; providing for election procedures for the Trustees; providing for the length of the terms of office of the Trustees and procedures for filling vacancies; providing for the procedures for the assessment and collection of a special district assessment; providing the assessment shall become a lien upon each parcel assessed; providing for the deposit and disbursement of funds of the District; providing a fiscal year and procedures for annual audited financial statements and an annual budget; defining the powers and duties of the Trustees; providing that each parcel assessed is uniformly benefitted; providing procedures for the dissolution of the District; relieving individual Trustees from personal liability for obligations of the District; providing for definitions; providing for severability; providing an effective date.
• STATUTE(S) UNDER WHICH DISTRICT OPERATES: The District was created by Hillsborough County Ordinance #02-20, pursuant to §189.4041(4), Florida Statutes, in October 2002, for the purpose of continued development, administration and maintenance of the common areas of Lake Strawberry for the mutual benefit of the parcels with lake access. The District is located in northern Hillsborough County, Florida. The District is a Special Dependent Tax District as defined in §189.403, Florida Statutes. The governing body of the District is the Board of Trustees, which is comprised of 7 members. The general operating authority of the District is contained in §189.404, Florida Statutes. The District is considered a component unit of Hillsborough County, Florida.
